Ways To Take Action

Get Your Hands Dirty

We believe in the power of community engagement to nurture our city’s urban forest. When neighbors come together to plant, care for, and advocate for trees, we don’t just grow Baltimore’s canopy—we strengthen the connections that make our city thrive.

Large trees with fall foliage create a canopy over the scene, with historic brick buildings and modern structures visible in the background. Fallen leaves scatter across the pavement and sidewalks.

Making An Impact Through Volunteering

Throughout the year, primarily during our tree-planting seasons—spring and fall—we host volunteer events designed to provide hands-on opportunities for direct contributions to the health and expansion of Baltimore’s urban forest. Join us for a morning or afternoon of digging, planting, mulching, and meeting fellow tree enthusiasts. These events bring together people from across the city to transform neighborhoods, one tree at a time.

No experience? No problem! We’ll work alongside you and teach you everything you need to know. Our experienced team members provide training, tools, and guidance, enabling you to feel confident in making a real difference. All you need to bring is enthusiasm and a willingness to get your hands dirty.

Community, Group, or Individual Volunteers

Whether you’re part of a neighborhood association, faith community, youth organization, scout troop, or simply an individual ready to roll up your sleeves, our public volunteer events welcome you. Join fellow Baltimoreans for tree planting days, where you’ll learn proper planting techniques, help select the right trees for specific locations, and transform streetscapes. Throughout the season, you can also participate in ongoing care activities, such as watering routes, mulching circles, and tree health assessments.

Check our events calendar to find an upcoming opportunity that fits your schedule.
